Solutions Consultant
Position Summary:
This role is responsible for the sale of customized solutions for high potential opportunities and strategic accounts. The position reports to the Director, Sales, responsible for CAS Custom Services and Business Development. The successful candidate will have sufficient knowledge of chemistry and CAS Custom Services capabilities to effectively manage business development and proposal efforts.
This role is responsible for generating new business opportunities to grow and develop the CAS Custom Services business and offers a unique opportunity to work together across a small team focused on building CAS’s Custom Services business. This requires strong relationship building skills alongside proactive lead generation and consultative sales capabilities.
Position Accountabilities
- Actively uncover client problems and needs that can be solved by CAS Custom Services
- Effectively communicate the CAS Custom Services value proposition amongst a wide variety of client personas, including technical experts, scientists and executives
- Build a robust pipeline to proactively advance and close opportunities to generate both short-term and long-term new revenue generation
- Serve as the bridge between the client and CAS Custom Services Solution and Execution teams to conceptualize, design, sell and deliver customized solutions that are achievable and profitable
- Work with sales personnel to efficiently qualify and advanced qualified opportunities through the CAS Custom Services Process
- Cultivate relationships with decision makers, manage and expand account relationships with existing and new accounts (includes cross-selling, upselling, retention, conflict-resolution and customer experience).
- Develop relationships which are both deeper and wider, engaging with all cross-functional and business unit key decision makers and influencers.
- Apply consultative sales approach to identify opportunities for CAS's scientific solutions
- Attend business development networking opportunities, including association events, career fairs, workshops, industry days, and seminars.
- Follow the established sales process and consistently utilize the CRM to document prospect interaction and efficient lead management.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related Life Science field.
- 8+ years of experience in consultative sales and business development.
- Proficiency in one of the following European languages is preferred but not mandatory: German, French, Italian, or Spanish.
- Established relationships with scientific organizations and a proven track record in new business development.
- Strong writing skills with experience in creating compelling, professional client proposals for customized solutions.
- Desirable: Technical knowledge of science, information/intellectual property, and IT solutions service delivery.
- Proven success in closing custom services/consultation deals.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with co-workers, business professionals, and clients. Expected to work with field sales representatives and sales management across different geographic reporting lines.
- Consultative selling skills including active listening, territory management, prospecting, negotiation, product knowledge, and presentation skills.
- Willingness to travel domestically up to 50%.
- Ability to work from a home office 100%.
